Hello!
Most of you know already but I thought I would introduce myself.
My name is Beth Moore. I am the 5th grade teacher at Sacred Heart Elementary School in Fowler, Indiana. I love my job as a teacher but it took me several years to figure out what I wanted to be when I grew up!
When I graduated from high school I had no idea what I wanted to do. I did take a class that allowed me to become a certified dental assistant. I worked as an assistant for several years and my doctor sent me to IU Dental School to become an expanded assistant. This basically means I placed all his fillings as well as assisted in preparing teeth for treatment. I always felt something was missing. I never graduated from college.
At the age 27, I returned to Purdue University to get get my bachelor's degree in elementary education. I then got pregnant with twin boys! So I cut down my load and went part time. When the boys turned two, I was ready to finish up my schooling. In 2007, I graduated on the Dean's List.
My first classroom was a 5th grade class at Carroll Consolidated School in Flora, Indiana. I taught Language Arts in a departmentalized setting, which means, I taught four different sections of Language Arts. I enjoyed my time there but due was laid off due to budget restraints and the lack of seniority. At the time, I still lived in Lafayette so I tried to get a contract with TSC. I worked two different maternity leaves (4th & 1st) during the first & second quarter. I was then offered a job teaching music at Prairie Crossing. I taught music to students K-6 and arranged a spring music show but once again was subjected to being laid off due to seniority.
I love teaching at Sacred Heart! I enjoy using my talents for the Lord not only in the classroom but also during Mass! I play my flute and love to sing. On the weekends, you can also find me playing for the Saturday night service. I also enjoy teaching with technology. In April, I will be presenting on different ways to use technology to maintain classroom management. I am very excited about this opportunity.
I love what I do! If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to contact me at school! I would love to set up an appointment where we can get to know each other.
